The Bible, In-Laws and Family in Africa

By Emmanuel Foster Asamoah

Abstract

This paper researched into the Bible, in-laws and the family in Africa and how Scriptures speak to in-laws and families in relation to the African culture. The research has the underpinning of existing literature by scholars in the research area. It reviews related literature of the Bible, looks into how the Bible addresses the thorny issues of in-laws, and situate it in the African context. The crux of the research is whether Scriptures view on in-laws conform to the family structure in the African context, by analysing the relationship thereof. It establishes that the Bible admonishes us to respect our in-laws and to care for them. It is the responsibility therefore, of the couples to seek the welfare of their in-laws, for there is a relationship between the Bible, in-laws and the family in Africa.
